The Astros Foundation will be celebrating MLK with a Day of Service on Monday, January 15, 2018.  We will have several volunteers opportunities to participate in giving back to our community!  

Tentative Schedule 

  • 8am to 8:30am – Registration/Check-in at Union Station
  • 8:30am – Welcome Remarks
  • 9am – Depart to locations
  • 9:30am to 1pm– Service projects
  • 1 pm to 2:30 pm – Volunteer lunch/social at Union Station 

Service Projects

  • Houston Food Bank: volunteer duties may include inspecting/sorting food, repacking dry food into family-sized bags, stocking/cleaning the Emergency Food Pantry or one of many other opportunities.
  • Volunteers MUST be at least 6 years old and supervised by parent or guardian throughout the shift.
  • All volunteers under the age of 18 also need a completed Youth Volunteer Consent Form signed by a parent or guardian.  

 

  • Buffalo Bayou Partnership: volunteer duties may include weeding, spreading mulch, scraping silt from trails, plant trees/plants, shoveling sif away from trees and/or removing trash off trees 
  • Volunteers MUST be at least 9 years old and supervised by parent or guardian throughout the shift.
  • All volunteers under the age of 18 also need a completed Youth Volunteer Consent Form signed by a parent or guardian.
