The American Red Cross prevents and alleviates human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors.
The American Red Cross of Illinois is beginning to assist city and state officials with their distribution of COVID-19 vaccines in Illinois. The scale of this effort will be truly monumental as they look to recruit hundreds of volunteers to be a part of this life-saving endeavor. This will be done in addition to their regular, critical mission work. Because of that, they're going to need as much support as possible for this to be successful.
Volunteer roles will be along the lines of registration, cleaning and disinfection of surfaces, set-up and tear down, monitoring individuals who have received the vaccine, and line management. Volunteers who are registered nurses may participate in the administration of the vaccine. Volunteers will not have any responsibilities related to deciding who gets vaccinated, or the storage of or movement of the vaccine. Upon registration, you will be directed to a Red Cross website to gather more specifics about this opportunity and complete registration.
Please note that this volunteer program is new and the registration and training process may have a few kinks and be slower than desired. The American Red Cross thanks you in advance for your patience and desire to serve.
